Green interior decorating — not the kind where you paint your pantry jade — is an idea whose time has come. At least that’s the fervent belief of Danny Seo, the Martha Stewart of the environmental movement. A 24-year-old New Yorker who started a national environmental group when he was 12 and was named one of People magazine’s 50 most beautiful men in 1998, Seo is the author of Conscious Style Home, a 176-page coffee-table book-cum-eco-catalogue. In the past few decades, consumerism and environmentalism have wed to produce any number of unlikely eco-friendly products — from bath towels to baby diapers — but the trend hasn’t made significant inroads in the interior design market. Seo, who says he’s not afraid of “half measures” such as partially-organic cottons, hopes to change all that by convincing U.S. homeowners to go green, one semi-recycled floor tile at a time.
