"I give to Grist because it rocks, and covers the environment where no one will go. I especially like Ask Umbra, with all those intimate environmental questions I'm too shy ask myself. ”

“It started with the series of articles written by David Roberts on smart grids that featured cute animals. I found it hilarious -- I just like that kind of absurdism. You guys are doing a great job on creating awareness on the topics you feature, thereby contributing to a better world. You are also very much respected from far outside the USA (from the Netherlands in my case). Keep up the good work!”

Thanks, Robin. Now scoot back from the edge. You're making me nervous.

“I chose to support you because you support me everyday with news that matters! Grist articles are accessible, educational, and wry, and provide plenty of inspiration and optimism amidst the complexities of the world in which we currently live. Grist makes me laugh, complements and enhances my thinking, encourages me to research, and makes it easy to share important matters with people who otherwise do not access this type of material. Cheers to all that!”

Thanks, Stepanka. We love supporting our readers with great material. We promise not to leave you hanging.

“I support Grist because environmental reporting just may prove to be as important as sports or even entertainment reporting.”

Thanks for supporting Grist, Chris. We hope to make you truly proud and ascend to the same journalistic excellence of publications such as US Weekly.

"I am a freelance writer and a great believer that there's still a chance to change the rather destructive course humanity has been engaging in during the last century or so. I write about the environment because I am bothered by how we came too close to not caring enough. That's why I donate to Grist, because the stuff you write makes an impact. The more voices the better. It's almost no longer 'I should donate to Grist' but 'I have to donate to Grist.'"

The more voices the better indeed, Daniela. We hope you add your voice to our social campaign and help Grist earn 15,000 smackers!

“Grist has become my primary vessel for news, thus it’s only fitting I repay you for the service you provide. After a profound ‘Aha!’ moment in college about the breadth and severity of climate change -- let's call it my calling -- I decided to devote my life to it. I now work as a renewable energy consulting engineer, helping clients of all sizes. As a passionate climate hawk, I am committed to activism, like the 350.org protests in D.C. I use Grist on a daily basis to stay informed about energy and climate issues both domestic and international, and I’m not afraid to defend renewables and swift action on climate -- see you in the comments! :)”

Nothing renews our energy like hearing from loyal supporters like you, Chris. Thanks for devoting every waking moment, as far as I can tell, to making the world less carbon-y.

“I’m one of those millennials getting all fussy about trying to save the world. I mean ... charming and optimistic beyond reason, but fussy in my approach ’cuz time is of the essence! I write a weekly blog called The Smarty at the Party (“news you can use to shmooze" ... alllllmost as good a tagline as “gloom and doom with a sense of humor,” and delightfully aligned in terms of mission) and I rely on Grist for my BS-free ’n always a la mode eco talk. Thank you, David Roberts and Grist!”

Thanks for supporting Grist, Samara! And for keeping our minds as full as our martini glasses.

"I really enjoy the wit at Grist - I work in the environmental movement in Canada and I find that the green world can be a little irony-free. You guys, on the other hand, are doing it with humour, which is the only way to win this."

Nothing makes us happier than hearing from satisfied readers like you, Lindsay! We love hearing from our international fans, especially when you spell “humour” like that. Makes us feel so distinguished!

"Here's a picture with me and my oldest boy and best friend. I support Grist because I care for his and his brother's health. Technology has run rampantly past humanity and it's frightening what capitalism is doing to our earth. I want to be as involved and knowledgeable as I can to teach my boys proper sustainable acts and living. Thanks, Grist!"

You know what they say, Jeff: averting planetary disaster starts at home. Glad we could help!
