A bundle of food-related measures passed on Tuesday.
Take a deep breath:
- Soda taxes passed in Boulder, Colorado, and in three cities in the Bay Area: San Francisco, Oakland, and Albany.
- Eggs from chickens raised in small cages were banned in Massachusetts.
- Oklahoma rejected a “right to farm” measure, which would have hatcheted environmental regulation of agriculture.
It’s hard to say how the Trump administration will affect farming, but Trump has repeatedly promised to slash agribusiness regulations, while protecting support for biofuels. For more analysis see food and ag economist Jayson Lusk and Politico’s Morning Ag team.
