House GOP may actually be trying to poison us
Photo: Lance RobotsonAll right, now we’re starting to get suspicious. The GOP isn’t just trying to decimate the EPA’s ability to protect our air and water from toxins — they’re also defunding poison control centers. What the … is this a Dorothy Sayers novel? Are the Republican reps fabricating a will and then bumping us off so they can inherit our vast fortunes? We thought this was about Pyrrhic victories over nature, health, and other “liberal” values, but it’s starting to look like they are actually just trying to poison everybody.
Eliminating nearly all the money for poison control centers would save $27 million — not even a rounding error when it comes to the deficit. Yet it is so foolish that it perfectly illustrates the thoughtlessness of the House Republican bill to cut $61 billion from the budget over the next seven months.
