Then they set their sights on climate change: Last year, the two teamed up to launch <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theadaptors.org\/\">The Adaptors<\/a><\/em>, a podcast dedicated to the weird and worrying stories of climate change in the modern world. \u201c[We] were much more interested in the psychological side of climate change,\u201d Lichtman says, \u201cand mainly trying to create content we thought people who did not \u2018care about climate change\u2019 might like.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The two explored everything from the evolutionary history of lichen to tornado machines to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theadaptors.org\/episodes\/2015\/12\/3\/imagine-earthships\">Earthships<\/a>. They took \u201cclimate confessions\u201d from guilty environmentalists, debated the merits of having children, and even considered whether we should engineer future humans to be smaller and less resource-intensive. (Yes, we at Grist <a href=\"https:\/\/grist.org\/science\/can-assisted-evolution-protect-corals-from-climate-change\/\">are fans<\/a>!)<\/p>\n<p><strong>What to expect in 2016:<\/strong> The podcast ended its first season in December, with no imminent plans for a season two (but fingers crossed). In the meantime, Wells runs a production company that keeps turning out viral hits. Lichtman wants\u00a0to do more pieces like the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/video\/opinion\/100000004105667\/animated-life-coelacanth.html?src=vidm\">&#8220;Animated Life&#8221;<\/a> Op-Docs she&#8217;s done for the\u00a0<em>Times<\/em>\u00a0&#8212; quirky, beautiful videos about science\u00a0&#8212; but with a focus on people doing cutting-edge\u00a0research. &#8220;Something that feels, you know, hopeful,&#8221; she says.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Podcast recommendation:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mydadwroteaporno.com\/home\">My Dad Wrote a Porno<\/a>, for when you need to laugh. \u201cIt\u2019s like\u00a0<em>Mystery Science\u00a0Theater<\/em> for erotic literature written by your dad,&#8221; says Lichtman.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the
