As part of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seattle.gov\/environment\/about-ose\/equity-and-environment\">the EEI<\/a>, she convenes a working group that represents the interests of people of color, immigrants, refugees, and low-income and limited-English individuals in the face of environmental decision-making.\u00a0(She&#8217;s also\u00a0contributed to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/grist.org\/author\/sudha-nandagopal\/\">Grist<\/a>!)<\/p>\n<p><strong>What to expect in 2016:<\/strong> \u201cThis is the year we begin to actually shift the environmental movement,\u201d she says. For Seattle, this means rolling out the official Equity and Environment Agenda this spring. While Nandagopal can\u2019t reveal all the\u00a0details yet, she is\u00a0hopeful.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"line-height:1.5;\">Leveling the field:<\/strong><span style=\"line-height:1.5;\"> What environmentalism is sorely lacking, she argues, is a meaningful response to the current distribution of benefits and burdens of environmental policies. \u201cWho has the opportunity to drive clean-energy vehicles?\u201d she asks. The EEI is all about \u201ccommunity-driven solutions\u201d &#8212; with communities of color as the \u201cleaders, strategists, and power-brokers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sweet
