The hot new trend in American infrastructure: Unpaved roads
We can't pay to repave roads so we're ripping them up instead.

Why we need to fix our crumbling roads, not build new ones
Past transportation spending has mostly been directed to construction rather than repairs. Here's why that doesn't make much sense.

The Netherlands is getting a glow-in-the-dark highway
This is the Netherlands, which means it’s only a matter of time before they put this technology to work in bike lanes, too.

Awesome idea: Require a cycling test to get a driver’s license
As a cyclist, sharing the road with cars is scary, for obvious reasons: They’re gigantic metal objects moving fast enough to kill you. But as a driver, sharing the roads with cyclists is also kinda scary. Most drivers are good people who don’t want to kill anyone while they’re out doing errands, but they don’t […]

Luckily, some human was smart enough to invent the Intersector -- a traffic light that respects the difference between bikes and cars.

Highway to hell: More roads = more traffic
Photo: Cyril PlapiedCross-posted from Sightline Daily. Tuesday’s news carries a story that I’ve been expecting for a while: Connecting Washington, a task force convened by Washington’s governor, has called for $21 billion in new transportation investments over the next 10 years. I haven’t seen the recommendations themselves, only the news report. But it looks like […]
