Jess Stahl is Grist’s executive editor for strategic initiatives, helping lead the newsroom’s work in deepening and expanding its impact, reach, and audience loyalty through new editorial initiatives and experiments. She joined Grist in 2021 as editor of its solutions lab. Prior to Grist, she was the director of audio at The Washington Post, where she launched the newspaper’s podcast operation, and was The Post’s deputy editor for audience.
