The ‘historic’ 2008 election drinking game
Of all the drinking games I have ever proposed (Note to self: Do I have a drinking game problem? Nah, I can quit anytime), the one for election day coverage this year is certainly the most likely to leave you unconscious on the floor for the longest period of time: Take one shot every time […]

Election ads featured three times more wind turbines this year than in 2006
Fun election fact, from the League of Conservation Voters: In 2006, federal candidates ran a total of 17 ads featuring images of windmills, representing the beginnings of clean energy as a campaign issue. In 2008, federal candidates ran at least 54 ads featuring windmills.

Montana gubernatorial candidate defends his eating habits
In perhaps one of the more bizarre controversies this Election Day, the final day of the Montana gubernatorial race was consumed with debate over what the Republican candidate, Roy Brown, does and does not eat. On Monday, Brown responded to an email rumor circulating the state alleging that Brown and his family are (gasp!) vegetarians. […]

Facebook app facilitates carpooling to the polls
Could a potential record number of voters tomorrow also mean massive CO2 emissions as people drive to the polls? Live Earth and carpool site Zimride sure hope not. They’ve partnered to make a Facebook app enabling people to find a ride in their area to their local polling spot. Their Carpool to the Polls application […]

Environment bigger factor in election than immigration, abortion, gay marriage
I was looking at this recent poll from Pew, and wanted to highlight how many people see environment as a big issue in the election: Environment is more important than immigration, abortion, and gay marriage. Which I think explains why McCain is trying to prove he’s the real environmentalist. (Also, he’s probably a bit worried […]

A look at House races with hot eco-angles
With all 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives up for reelection every two years, it can be hard to keep track of which races will have much of an environmental impact. Here’s a cheat sheet on some of the contests enviros are following most closely, based on the greenest (and least-green) candidates in […]
