Hummer Bummer

Correction: Schwarzenegger didn't really sell off his Hummers

News reports published last week and cited here in Daily Grist claimed that California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) had, in a fit of green consciousness, sold his fleet of Hummers. Turns out that was poppycock. A media representative in the Governator's office said Monday that Schwarzenegger still owns four of the hulking gas-guzzlers. "But the governor does not drive them anymore, mostly for security reasons," the rep said. Is that like not inhaling?

Schwarzenegger's Hummers

The best thing Schwarzenegger could do for the earth is to buy up as many Hummers as he can afford, and keep them garaged. Each one he buys and doesn't drive is one that somebody else isn't driving. If you can afford it, buy one too; just don't drive it!

tale of two woodpeckers

The ivory-billed woodpeckers are obviously slipping.  For so long, they were doing such an excellent job, keeping their whereabouts unknown to humankind.  Maybe they should hire a consultant from Al-Qaida, a veteran of Osama bin Ladin's concealment team.

The story from North Carolina is really appalling.  This does not reflect at all well on humankind.  Those of us who have hopes of changing our culture in a greenward direction definitely have our work cut out for us.

Chickens deserve our true friendship! So do fish! So do other sentient beings! Let us learn to be kind.

Faulty logic

The more he buys, the more they'll make.

It's like trying to kill off all the terrorists. The more you kill, the more people often join the ranks and instead you end up with more of them.
