North America and Europe lead the world in releasing greenhouse gases and other forms of pollution, but India and Southeast Asia are catching up, according to a study published today in the journal Science. Biofuels like dung, wood, and agricultural waste are one of the main reasons why. The study focuses on how the biofuels — commonly used for heating homes and cooking — are leading to pollution problems over the Indian Ocean.
