Your evening sunshine

This has me smiling: a California family that grows three tons of organic food a year -- on 1/10 of an acre.

I'm sharing this because a) what can I say, I think it's nifty, and b) it points out the problem with apocalyptic thinking.

Humans currently use various resources in horribly inefficient and destructive ways. But that's because of the specific way we prioritize inputs such as labor, capital, energy, etc. Change the priorities, you change the inputs.

In this case, the priority is expressed by the owner of the suburban farm:

‘Eco-terrorism’: Even the liberal Stranger …

Here in Seattle we have an alternative weekly called The Stranger, with a clever feature called I, Anonymous, wherein some unnamed someone lambastes some unnamed someone else over ... something. Viciously. It's short and amusing.

Anyway, the paper's online forums have an I, Anonymous message board. This was posted there today (tucked away beneath the fold, for those offended by foul language, of which there is much):

The latest issue of a progressive magazine called Canadian Dimension is devoted to peak oil, and there's some good stuff in it (only some of which is available online). In particular, check out the article by Richard Heinburg: "Responding to the Challenge of Peak Oil."

No, not James Robertson or James Inhofe, but the media's favorite ha-ha fascist, Ann Coulter.
