The cleanest big U.S. utilities are also the best investments, according to a study by New York-based investment advisory firm Innovest Strategic Value Advisors. Pacific Gas & Electric on the West Coast, whose mix of fuels includes geothermal, hydro, and natural gas, as well as some coal, and Niagara Mohawk Power on the East Coast, which burns no coal at all, received the highest performance ratings from Innovest.
