Muckraker: Grist on Politics

Near the end of this year’s Netroots Nation, event planners announced that next year’s gathering will be held in Pittsburgh, Pa., a spot selected for its green merits. One of the main reasons is that Pittsburgh has the first and largest LEED gold-certified convention center in the country.

“We have a goal of making 2009 the most environmentally-friendly gathering ever,” wrote event planners in an email last night. They’re also planning to start a carbon-offset program and will encourage attendees to take rail travel instead of flying, since Pittsburgh is more accessible by rail than Austin.

We’re in transit this evening, but we will have several more interviews with political types from Netroots Nation for you soon.
