The fresh guacamole of Fresh Guacamole is not a good recipe — it’s made out of Play-Doh, dice, and Monopoly houses. But the 1:45-long film, which has been nominated for an Academy Award for best animated short, is still extremely charming, and the animation is kind of mind-blowing. I mean, I know intellectually how they turn that baseball “onion” into diced “onions” made of actual dice — but watching it happen is kind of like magic. (It’s not magic, though; it’s the result of four months of work and more than $50,000.)
