There’s a hot new look that you could be yours, and all you need is a sprout growing out of the top of your head.
Around Beijing, people have been spotted wearing plastic or felt sprout barrettes clipped in their hair, a look that’s being referred to as “Sproutcore.”
Could this be a statement about Beijing’s toxic air quality — a subtle way of saying, “If you won’t clean up this disgusting air, I’ll wear a goddamn fake carbon sink on my head”? Maybe! But, according to The Telegraph, the trend is more likely inspired by a character from a popular cartoon who sprouts leaves from his head when he thinks too hard.
Either way, we predict bean sprouts will be joining the man bun atop American heads any day now, and while both trends may be dumb, at least this one is cute.
