Ingrid Newkirk, president of PETA, on Stephen Colbert
I don’t think she says 10 words through this whole thing:

The Mustache on David Letterman
David Letterman is a national treasure. And, not for the first time, I ask you to marvel at the ability of Tom Friedman to generate a memorable aphorism for literally any point he’s trying to make. He’s like a savant or something: [vodpod id=Video.999116&w=425&h=350&fv=] (thanks LL!)

Tina Fey: ‘Bitch is the new black’
If you watch to the end of this, you’ll find a spirited defense of Hillary Clinton. I was recently scolded for only posting Obama videos, but the thing is, all the interesting/funny videos this campaign have been from Obama supporters. I’m glad Tina Fey (who I worship) helped me balance the scales. Now, somebody send […]

CBS airs final segment of Antarctica series tonight
CBS has been televising a series this week on climate change impacts in Antarctica. Monday's broadcast spotlighted how climate change has affected Adelie penguin populations. The segment last night focused on scientific research in Antarctica and what it might mean for our understanding of global warming (see video below). You can tune in tonight at 6:30 pm EST to find out about waste and recycling issues in our least-inhabited continent.

National Geographic’s ‘Six Degrees Could Change The World’
I haven't read the book -- who has time? Oh, but TV or a YouTube video -- well, that's another matter:
This Sunday, February 10th at 8pm EST on the National Geographic Channel, "Six Degrees Could Change The World," which offers a hypothetical look at how the world might change, degree by degree, if we don't curtail our emissions:

Idiot protest or brilliant parody?
I got a strange PR release today that sent me to this. I’ve read it over pretty closely and I still can’t tell whether it’s intended to be parody. If it is parody, it’s quite clever — really nails the self-righteousness arms race underway in the eat-your-own faction of the green movement. If it is […]

Hollywood writers strike a blow for the climate
Okay, you're annoyed you can't watch 24, or a full season of House or The Office -- and yes, The Daily Show is kind of lame these days. But on the bright side, as a U.K. Times headline notes:Viewers turned off by Hollywood writers strike 'may never switch TV on again.'
Yet, as is so typical of the MSM, they completely missed the real story: the connection to global warming. Turning TVs off equals using less electricity equals emitting less carbon dioxide.
How much less?

Boston Gullible
Via Autoblog Green, it looks like the widely discredited study showing that Hummers beat Priuses has now reached prime time: For Gristmillian debunkings of the study, see biodiversivist and Joe Romm.

Watch CBS this Saturday for breaking electric-car news
I was just interviewed by CBS for a possible story on plug-in hybrids on Monday. You should tune in to CBS evening news Saturday for the first coverage of what I believe is a major advance in plug-ins -- a car I test drove a few weeks back and will be free to write about here Monday.
The New York Times will probably be doing a print story on the car Sunday, which I'll link to. Then CBS may do another story, which is where I would come in. This hybrid technology will be rolled out in a retrofitted car at the Detroit auto show.
I think this is a big deal. Basically the company figured out how to design a practical, affordable plug-in hybrid without a breakthrough in battery technology!! Stay tuned.
