In normal times, hefty studies on The Future of Transportation Policy from the Department of Transportation are big news around Grist. That’s why our cities editor, Greg Hanscom, suggested that I cover the Obama administration’s new “Beyond Traffic” report. I’m not usually one to pass up an opportunity to blabber about the need to expand and reform the way we invest in transportation — from fix-it-first to complete streets to mass transit and inter-city rail.
