One unconscionably hot day last week, James Doernberg, 20, and Kai Jordan, 18, went on an adventure together. The couple boarded the NYC subway system at 10 a.m. Nine hours and 19 minutes later, they had stopped at every station in Manhattan — and they had the pictures to prove it.

As a rule, Doernberg and Jordan tried to hop off the subway car and hop back on at each brief stop. This did not endear them to MTA personnel, Doernberg told Gothamist:

One conductor was furious and told us that if we kept “playing around on the subway” he would leave us behind.

But they pushed on, up the island and back down again. You can see the evidence here.

As much as we approve of transit-celebrating couples’ activities, we do not recommend spending nine hours on the hot subway as a first date. Although … you will get to know the person quite well, see how they handle stress, and find out what they look like when they’re criminally sweaty. Perhaps it’s not such a bad idea after all.
