Installation artist Bartholomäus Traubeck’s new work, “Years,” uses some kind of optical dealie to translate a tree’s age rings into piano music. Okay, so this isn’t quite what you’d get if you dropped a needle on a slice of tree and let it spin, but it’s still kind of cool that you can interpret natural patterns into something that sounds like Schoenberg.
