At Grist, we love a good music festival. There's nothing quite like escaping from the ol' nine-to-five with a carload of pals and a sixpack of microbrews. But a bad music festival is worse than sunburns at an emo concert — long lines, $12 Bud Lights, and legions of garbage can be all too common.
Pickathon aims to do one better: Set at Pendarvis Farm in Happy Valley, Ore., the woodsy, sustainable summer fest is three days of family-friendly, planet-friendly, ear-friendly fun. Our own David Roberts put it best when he called it “a music festival made by people who love music festivals for people who love music festivals.”
To get you in the mood for this year's event, each month Grist will be taking you to Pickathon On the Farm for a series of intimate, unplugged, never-before-seen performances from some of your favorite artists. So what are you waiting for? Crack open a cold one and enjoy.
