Grist expands international editorial partnerships in Asia

This year, Grist is expanding its international footprint with new partnerships in Asia. 

Grist is now an associate member of Asian Dispatch, a pan-Asian network and newsroom which maintains a network of publishers primarily across South Asia and Southeast Asia. This new relationship builds on a previous collaboration between Grist and Asian Dispatch, which co-published two stories from Grist’s Vital Signs series in 2025 covering the intersection of global health and climate change.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Asian Dispatch, which is doing important work spotlighting cross-border topics like environmental justice and climate impacts, among others,” said Rachel Glickhouse, Grist’s partnerships director. “We admire their highly collaborative approach as a public-interest newsroom, and are looking forward to new story partnerships with them.”

With their focus on climate and environment, and our presence in over 10 countries in Asia, we believe we will be able to uncover brilliant stories together,” said Kritika Goel, editorial and strategic lead at Asian Dispatch, adding that this collaboration will also allow Asian Dispatch to reach newer audiences in the United States.  

Grist also recently launched a syndication partnership with News Penguin, a South Korea-based news site focused on climate solutions. News Penguin is translating and publishing select Grist stories in Korean.

“One of our goals is for more of our stories to be translated into other languages, and we’re really excited that News Penguin approached us about this wonderful opportunity,” Glickhouse added.

“The climate crisis is a globally interconnected issue, and high-quality journalism that holds power to account and explores solutions should reach a wider audience,” said Ki Cheong Kim, publisher of News Penguin. “Through our collaboration with Grist, we’re pleased to be able to bring global climate reporting to Korean readers.”
