M.C. Taylor, frontman of the North Carolina-based country rock band Hiss Golden Messenger, has a voice that sounds like it’s been soaked in whiskey. And we mean that as a compliment. Here’s Taylor playing a slightly sorrowful, slightly bittersweet acoustic version of “Mahogany Dread” at last year’s Pickathon.

Like what you hear? Hiss Golden Messenger is performing at Pickathon again — in just a matter of weeks! Tickets are on sale here.
